Register for TREP$

TREP$, short for enTREPreneur$, is a project-based learning program that teaches kids in grades 4-8 how to start their own businesses. They learn the lessons afterschool, over the summer, or remote workshops, and apply them at home as they build their businesses with the support of their families. The whole community comes out to enjoy the TREP$ Marketplace where the young entrepreneurs launch their businesses together.

Working with Blairstown Farmers Market and later Warren County Farmers Market, we launched an innovative approach to the TREP$ Marketplace event — our young entrepreneurs launched their businesses at the market, where they benefitted from the regular audience and foot traffic while the farmers benefitted from the added attendance turning out for the special event. The program has grown each year, adding additional workshops and Marketplace events. Even with COVID-19 restrictions necessitating classes on Zoom and masks at the market, our young businesspeople thrived.

Kaleidoscope TREP$ workshops have gone through many iterations, but for several years the program has been hosted by the Warren County Library System. The program was held over the summer, during a time when kids had less academic pressure and more free time so that they could really immerse themselves in the excitement and creativity of the TREP$ program. Unfortunately, the Warren County Library is unable to host the program this summer.

So Kaleidoscope is forging forward by hosting classes ourselves. Classes this year will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays at 6 pm starting July 7. If we can find an appropriate outdoor space for in-person meetings we may be able to get together for in-person classes. Students are expected to attend all six sessions and attend at least one Marketplace Event.

The cost per student is $50 and includes all materials and the workbook. You will be sent a PayPal invoice after registering. You may pay by credit card, Venmo (KaleidoscopeSci), PayPal, check, or cash.

You will need to pick up supplies at one of our Farmer’s Markets events, at my office at 1077A Route 94, Blairstown, NJ, or pay for shipping to your home (approximately $8). We may have a very limited number of scholarships available. If you are interested in donating a scholarship for another student, please do! A minimum of 15 students is needed for this class to be held.

Sessions will be recorded, just in case a student must miss a workshop. We will also use Edmodo as a place to share information, post assignments, and stay in communication. You will need to form an account if you do not have one. Students that miss sessions will be expected to complete make-up assignments.

Our Marketplace events are scheduled for:

Can’t wait to have Nahleah start this program on 7-7-21. As it’s her birthday, we will hopefully be in transit from someplace interesting, but will definitely have my phone available. She’s wanted to do this for some time and it’s pretty cool you’ll be at the Blairstown Farmer’s Market on August 7th. Will drop off a check ASAP.
