This year I was very excited to be invited to participate in Aaron Maurer‘s 25 Days of Making on his fantastic Coffee for the Brain site. The idea was to feature at least twenty-five different STEM, STEAM and maker projects by different educators from all over the globe so that teachers could use the projects with their students. Projects were released throughout December 2019.

I decided to offer a Light Up Peace Candle project based on the Easton, PA Peace Candle. There are three versions. The Crafty, a simple, inexpensive light-up Peace Candle for younger makers and large groups; The STEAMy, a paper circuit project for middle school and up; and The Techie, using the Adafruit Circuit Playground Express micro-controller and MakeCode for older makers interested in coding.

So be sure to head over to the website, watch the introductory video, and check out all the amazing projects available for you to share with your students or family. I promise there is something for everyone. Also, take a moment to read through The Makers page. You’ll find lots of inspirational maker educators featured, include some of my maker friends like Heather Lister, Lorraine Underwood, Colleen Graves, and Kathy Ceceri.

And of course, take some time to check out all the amazing resources on Coffee for the Brain. Aaron has a wonderful podcast, newsletter, and more for his fellow educators.
