Use a disposable water bottle to create an upcycled hydroponics planter. This is a fun, easy, inexpensive way to grow greens, herbs, flowers and more indoors or start garden seedlings before the season. It’s a great project for schools and camps.

You may have heard that NJ and surrounding got a bit of snow recently. Since I’m a make lemonade kind of gal, I knew this meant we had an opportunity! Time to play with snow Mythbusters style.
We’ve all been there: The third, fourth, or fifth (!) snow day of the winter, and you’re just out of ideas. If you bake one more cookie or pull out the watercolors again you might just lose your mind. Maybe you should just let them watch TV or play video games and call it done, right?
Kaleidoscope Director, Sandy Roberts, is also the Makerspace Coordinator for the Warren County Library system. Through the library, she offers coding, 3D printing, electronics, robotics, and engineering activities to all four branches.
The Children Museum is volunteer-run and offers programs on select weekends at The PeopleCare Center in Bridgewater, NJ. Come and join us for interactive activities most typically suitable for children ages 3 to 9. Suggested donation: $3 per child.

Thought it’d be fun to mix nature sounds to create soundscapes for Maker Camp. So I used Adafruit’s NeoTrellis to mix up to 8 sounds and speed up or slow down the tempo.
Playing with the Adafruit Neotrellis. Got the idea to create a sound effect board for Maker Camp so that even if I have no access to The Great Outdoors we can still pretend. All sound files are public domain from our National Park Service.
